There are 3 Fish Market stalls here. It is best to check out all three and bargain for the best price among them. Smell the fish. It should not have a hint of fishy smell. Ask the seller to devein your shrimp. They can provide you a cooler and ice if you did not bring one.

This store, with its computer screen catch-of-the-day Peso and USD pricing, is the fish market storefront for the adjacent fish processor labeled Pesquera Mar De Cortez on the map. They buy direct from the boats bringing frozen shrimp each morning (all shrimp is instantly flash frozen at sea on the fishing vessel to keep it fresh). A wide selection. You can acquire almost any type seafood in season. They have a large assortment of Fresh-Frozen Seafood: Sole Fillet, Blanket, Cazon, Callo Chico, Callo Grande, Shrimp, Sierra Carnita, Tuna Medallions, Smoked Marlin, Peeled Japanese and Desvenado, Snail, Octopus, Jaiba Meat, Salmon, Dry Shrimp, Pickles, Seafood Sauces. Quality has been excellent.
Often times you can buy fish directly from the fishermen off their pangas or fishing vessels after a catch. The catch may include Hake, Sawtail Grouper, Pinta Bass, Leopard Grouper, Gulf Coney, Roosterfish, Yellowtail, Red Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Marlin, Sierra Grande, Spotted Cabrilla, Longjaw Leatherjack, Finescale Triggerfish, Cochito, Sierra Mackerel or Spotted Bay Bass. You will need to wander up and down the Piers in Old Port.
